It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and colleague, Roy Scott, passed away on 21 June following a long battle with illness.
It is an incredibly sad time for us at Keltie who have had the pleasure of Roy’s company for more than sixteen years. He was our Senior Paralegal and brought vast experience, in so many imaginative ways, to our paralegal team and to us all. Keltie would simply not be the place it is now without Roy’s overwhelming contribution and infectious charisma. He was also renowned for his contributions to the profession as a whole and inspired so many through his lectures and training, both internally at Keltie and externally through CITMA, CIPA and TMAP.
Roy was an incredible man with an amazing spark and the most joyous and upbeat character which shone through always, even in more recent and difficult days. He is completely irreplaceable to us, as a friend and colleague, and we will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with Roy’s family especially at this very sad time.

I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to get along with Roy, but the first time I met him, I was impressed by his joy and his love for his work. Let your family and friends find strength in the sweet memories he left to overcome the sadness of his passing.
I am so, so shocked and saddened to hear this dreadful news.. Always had such respect for Roy. Always very professional and a joy to be with.. I’ve known Roy for a long time whilst I was at CompuMark. Am so sorry to hear this news. My condolences to everyone at Keltie and Roy’s family.. Dear Roy.. RIP.. It was a pleasure to have known you.. Again.. so very, very sad..
Well Roy is truly with the angels now. I recruited him to Field Fisher Waterhouse and he started on the first day of true operations of OHIM as it was then and created our paralegal team. He was an obsessive details man and extraordinarily loyal. Keltie were lucky to have him for his last 16 years. He made a massive contribution in creating the IP paralegal profession as a respected and well trained part of the IP community. His work will not be forgotten. There are still a plethora of RES initials in the IP database I use to this day in both the patent and trademark records. Oh and Once upon a time we called our paralegal team members angels.
I am so sorry to hear this very sad news. My thoughts are with you and Scott’s family. I had the privilege of crossing paths with Scott when I worked in the UK. Not only did he give so much to the industry, but he had such a lovely personality too. He will be very much missed by all that knew him. So from all of us in Australia that know you… RIP.
I worked with Roy many years ago at Jenkins. He was an amazing friend and a lovely genuine guy. He will be missed by so many people. God bless Roy. My thoughts are with you and his family.
