Following the recent adoption of the Agreement of the Unified Patent Court by the French National Assembly comes news that the French President, François Hollande, has now promulgated the law by signing off on the text in Paris on 24th February 2014.
The above information has been posted on the Legifrance website here.
Austria was the first country to ratify the Unified Patent Court Agreement back in August last year (see IPcopy here). As we noted last month it also appears that Malta ratified the Agreement on 21 January 2014 (So far, the official website is not showing Malta’s ratification but we’ll keep an eye on this). So, with France it now appears we have three countries signed up to the UPC.
Next up may be Belgium who are apparently moving quickly and possibly Denmark, who are holding a referendum in May.
